Sourdough’s most famous baker – Taylor Swift!

I really didn’t think that I would ever dedicate an entire blog post to any one particular artist or performer but of everyone I think that Taylor Swift warrants it and there is a tenuous link to my favourite form of low carb bread here too! I have to confess to being a complete and utter Swiftie. I have all her albums, have seen her Reputation tour and was extremely privileged to have been able to go to the Eras tour last year. I’m writing this having just come back from seeing her new film, the Life of a Showgirl. She is a phenomenon indeed. Someone who has the ability to entertain on all levels. Her music is original and fun, yet her lyrics actually mean something. No matter what age you are there are always ways in which you can identify with something she has written about.

From growing up and feeling like an outsider in so many ways to never feeling quite good enough for that boy you like in school or even encountering sexism in the workplace. Taylor has covered it all. She can write about her genuine joy at finding someone who understands her and who accepts her life as it is, and you feel happy for her too. Not many artists make you feel that for them. And of course she is now well known for her love of baking sourdough for her friends!

She has flaws of course, as we all do, she’s just human, but she talks openly about these flaws. Her tendency to be dramatic and over analyse things is something that many of us can identify with yet that only seems to make her more of a credible person.

There are also not many ‘stars’ that seem to inspire the loyalty from her band, dancers etc.  that she does. They all knew about the new album for a year, yet no-one said a word (yes ok, I hear you mentioning NDAs!)

Her generosity seems to be well known as well. From donating substantial amounts to food banks in each city she played in on the Eras tour and rewarding her team generously for their hard work to visiting children’s cancer wards, I don’t think there is any disputing that she is a good person.

Ok the past few albums have included some NSFW lyrics but to be fair she has never proclaimed to be a saint and is after all a thirty something young woman.

So finally, these are my reasons for being a Swiftie, her amazing music aside. I hope she finally has the happiness she deserves after the joy she has brought to so many of us over the years.

Good luck Taylor and thank you!

It’s so lovely to hear you championing someone who although infinitely successful it seems, deserves such accolade. Obviously TS has made a profound effect on you in such a positive way and long may it continue.
